Congressional Women’s Softball Game Reveals 2017 Rosters and Announces Record Donation Numbers for Young Women Breast Cancer Survivors
Over one million dollars raised since game’s founding in 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C. - This week, the Congressional Women’s Softball Game (CWSG) organizing committee announced the rosters for its ninth annual game, which will take place on June 21, 2017. The rosters of the Members of Congress team and the Press team are stacked with new players from around the country. Rookies on the Members team include Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán, Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Rep. Stephanie Murphy, Rep. Claudia Tenney, and Rep. Norma Torres. For the Press team, rookies include ABC News’ Mary Bruce, Real Clear Politics’ Emily Goodin, PBS NewsHour’s Erica Hendry and Pamela Kirkland, CNN’s Leigh Munsil, New York Times’ Alicia Parlapiano, and Huffington Post’s Kate Sheppard. The CWSG organizing committee also announced that they have already raised more than $200,000 in corporate sponsorship, individual donations, and ticket sales to benefit the Young Survival Coalition– a new record this early in the season. Ticket sales and sponsorships are still available through the game on June 21st. To date, the CWSG has raised over one million dollars since the game’s founding to benefit young women under 40 who have been diagnosed with breast cancer – a disease no woman should have to face alone.

Senator Shelley Moore Capito said, "I look forward to the Congressional Women’s Softball Game every year where members of Congress put politics aside to raise awareness about breast cancer – something that has had an impact on all of our lives in some way. I can’t wait to get back on the field with my teammates so we can beat the Press and bring back the trophy to where it belongs."
