14TH ANNUAL CONGRESSIONAL WOMEN’S SOFTBALL GAME SET FOR SEPTEMBER 14
Members of Congress and D.C. press corps to continue storied rivalry
Washington, D.C. – This year’s Congressional Women’s Softball Game (CWSG) will be September 14, 2022 at Watkins Recreation on Capitol Hill. The annual game unites female legislators from both parties to play female D.C. journalists to raise money for young people battling breast cancer. After being canceled in 2020, the game raised a record $509,000 in 2021.
The rosters will be announced this summer. Last year’s rosters can be found here.
Since its founding in 2009, CWSG has raised over $2 million for the Young Survival Coalition (YSC), a non-profit that supports people aged 40 and under who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. In addition to much-needed funds, the game raises awareness about the prevalence of breast cancer in young adults and the importance of screening.
“We are thrilled to be holding the game again this fall,” said Atalie Ebersole, President of the Congressional Women’s Softball Game. “Over the years, CWSG has grown into a community dedicated to helping young people while they undergo treatment for breast cancer, because no one should face the diagnosis alone. The mission of the game is personal to us all, and with the disruptions to medical care caused by the pandemic, the need for YSC’s work has never been greater. We are proud of what we have accomplished together and are excited to see the tradition continue.”
Watkins Recreation is located at 420 12th Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online later this spring or at the gate on game day.
