Washington, DC – This week, the Congressional Women's Softball Game organizing committee announced that Country Star Kalie Shorr is coming to the game to sing her hit, "Fight Like A Girl." The game -- a Capitol Hill summer favorite -- will be on June 21st at 7pm at Watkins Recreation Center.
CWSG raises funds for the Young Survival Coalition, and to date, the game has raised over one million dollars since the game’s founding to benefit young women under 40 who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. This year, the game is taking place the same week as the 45th anniversary of Title IX.
Shorr's appearance is a part of this year's added music-focus to the game. For the first time, each player has picked her favorite walk-up song to be played at the game, and those picks have been compiled into team playlists. Fans can vote for their favorite playlist here. Shorr's song has received over 1.6 million streams on Spotify and is the walk-up song for the Member team co-captain Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
The CWSG organizing committee also announced celebrity base umpires for the game. They will include Mystics player Elena Delle Donne; Erica May-Scherzer, Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer's wife; and Monica Abbott, one of the premier players in the nation.
Tickets for the game are $10, and they can be purchased prior to the game online or at the gate. For more information about the game, please visit www.congwomensoftball.org. To RSVP for press credentials, please email Rachel@congwomensoftball.com.
